Salpiglossis sinuata Tora Staring Eyes produces trumpet-shaped flowers in rich shades of red, purple, gold, and violet, each decorated with striking veined patterns. The velvety texture and unusual markings give them an exotic look. Thriving in sunny, sheltered spots, this variety makes a dramatic feature in borders and cutting gardens, flowering generously from early summer to the first frosts. Its showy, patterned blooms are excellent for cutting, bringing a bold splash of colour and texture indoors. Bold colours for pots and borders. Loved by pollinators. Striking velvety, trumpet-shaped blooms in red, blue, and cream, each marked with vivid, stained-glass veining. Full Sun. Sow Indoors: Feb to Apr, Flowering: Jul to Sep. Sow Indoors: Fill a tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Scatter seeds thinly, covering with vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 15–20°C or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room. Growing On / Planting Out: Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out from early summer onwards. Allow 30cm between plants. Aftercare: Water regularly, especially during warm, dry spells, and feed using a liquid plant food. Deadhead regularly to prolong the flowering period.
