This Cortaderia Selloana, commonly known as Pampas Grass, is a striking plant that brings dramatic autumnal impact to any garden. Originating from Australia, it produces large, impressive white plumes from autumn through winter, which are also ideal for floral arrangements. The gracefully arching leaves create a beautiful silhouette, making it a perfect specimen plant for lawns, borders, or containers. While young plants may be cut back for transport, they establish readily. This grass thrives in mixed plantings or as a standalone feature. It can be grown outdoors in pots or containers, provided the compost is well-draining with added grit to prevent frost damage around the edges. For optimal growth, use a good quality John Innes compost and feed regularly, preferably with Osmoscote pro for a year-round nutrient supply. Pampas Grass requires a sunny location, planted at a depth of 12 cm with 60 cm spacing. It reaches a full height of 1.50-2m and width of 1-1.50m within 2 years, blooming from September to December with pink flowers and green leaves.
