The RidgeMonkey MonoCast Main Line is designed for carp and specimen anglers who demand a balance between extreme abrasion resistance and reliable casting performance. It is an ideal choice for those who need a versatile, low-stretch monofilament that blends seamlessly with various lake bed conditions, though its specialized premium construction may be overkill for casual or occasional weekend pleasure fishing.

While primarily designed for carp fishing, its abrasion resistance holds up well, but ensure you rinse the line with fresh water after every session.
While it is durable, it is designed as a main line for fishing. Using it for spodding may cause faster wear due to the high frequency of casts.
MonoCast is designed as a sinking monofilament to help it hug the lake bed and stay out of the way of feeding fish.
The MonoCast is supplied on standard 1000m spools.
It features low-stretch properties, but like all monofilaments, there will be a degree of stretch at extreme ranges compared to braided lines.
Ensure you are spooling from the bulk reel by letting it rotate on a pencil or spooling tool, rather than letting the line peel off the side.
Moisten the line thoroughly before pulling the knot tight and ensure you are using a line-friendly knot like the Palomar or Grinner knot.
To ensure peak performance, spool the line under tension while keeping it submerged in a bucket of water. This helps the MonoCast bed down tightly onto the spool, preventing line twist during the first few casts. Always check your knots before casting, specifically when using fluorocarbon leaders, as the high-strength mono can occasionally be abrasive against thinner lines if not seated properly. After sessions in salt-heavy or silted waters, wipe the line down with a damp, clean cloth to remove debris. Store your spare spools in a dark, cool place to prevent UV degradation of the monofilament.
