Derwent Inktense Colour Blocks are sticks of vibrant watercolour ink which are incredibly versatile. Use them dry if you like - they're great for covering large areas - but add water and they really come to life! Once dry the colours are fixed (unlike normal watercolour paint), so you can safely work over the top of them. This permanency also makes them ideal for using on fabric such as silk, cotton and canvas, and you can also use them for printing and stamping. There are many ways you can use Inktense Blocks to create amazing artworks: Use dry, then use a brush and water to blend. You can then use dry blocks to add extra detail. Apply water direct to the blocks with a brush, just as with normal watercolours. Put two or more blocks side by side before applying the water to all of them, and you can create instant stripes! Grate a block into water, or shave bits off it with a sharp knife, then mix and use as a wash. Apply water to a block then shake it and create paint splatter effects. Derwent Inktense blocks are intensely vibrant, watersoluble blocks that have been formulated to dry permanently, offering exceptional layering capability without dissolving previously dried layers of vivid colour. Just like the pencils, colours are highly-pigmented and can be used dry, or mixed with water which is when the colour becomes even more intense. The colours retain vibrancy after drying, creating ink-like effects. Once dry the colour is permanent and you can work over the top of it. Derwent Inktense is highly versatile and can be applied to many porous surfaces including ceramic, wood and fabric Suitable for use on paper and fabrics (ideal on silk and cotton) for a wide range of fine art and craft projects. Permanent when dry - doesn't washout like watercolour. Layer up intense vibrant colours. The blocks complement the Inktense range perfectly opening up an exciting world of endless possibilities. They can also be used on fabric to create stunning silk paintings and quilts.
