The Tamiya Lockheed P-38 J Lightning Model Kit is a 1:48 scale replica of the iconic American twin-engine fighter aircraft. Developed in response to a 1937 request for a superior fighter, the P-38 Lightning was a highly successful design, with around 10,000 units produced, contributing to numerous US ace pilots. The P-38J variant, introduced in August 1943, addressed cooling issues with intercoolers moved to the underside of the engines, allowing for its full 1,425hp output even at high altitudes. This kit captures the "J" variant, which was an evolution of the successful "F/G" variant, making it a definitive P-38 kit for modelers.
