Zinnia 'Sunshine' offers superb quality plants with large, vibrant, dahlia-like blooms complementing compact dark green foliage. These plants stand up well to pot production due to their extra-tough roots, allowing for early sowing and planting out in late spring for extended displays until the first frosts. Sow seeds directly outdoors from April to May in a sunny spot with moist, well-drained soil, thinly at a depth of 3mm, spaced 30cm apart. Water regularly, especially in dry weather. Germination typically takes 7-14 days. Thin seedlings to 23cm apart when large enough to handle. Alternatively, sow indoors from March to April at 15-25C, keeping compost moist and ensuring light for germination. Gradually acclimatise indoor-grown plants to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting after the risk of frost has passed. Mature plants reach up to 50cm in height and 30cm in spread, flowering from July to October. Supplied as approximately 12 seeds per packet with cultural instructions.
