Will these change the pH of my water?

No, these are formulated to be natural and will not disrupt the chemical balance of a healthy pond.

How many balls come in this pack?

Troubleshooting

Pond water is not clearing up immediately

EM Mudballs are a biological treatment, not a chemical flocculant. Please allow 2-4 weeks for the microbial population to colonize and begin effectively breaking down the organic matter.

Mud balls arrived slightly crumbled

Because these are hand-pressed using natural clay and bran, minor surface crumbling is expected. The contents remain fully effective; simply place the fragments into the pond as you would a whole ball.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Completely free from artificial chemicals
  • Safe for fish and aquatic plants
  • Extremely simple to apply
  • Effectively reduces organic sludge buildup

Cons

  • Biological treatments may take time to show visible results
  • Individual size variations due to hand-pressed nature
  • Requires scheduled maintenance every 6 months for best results

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin using the mud balls, calculate your pond volume in litres to determine the initial dose. Simply drop the required number of balls into the deepest part of the pond or near the area with the most sludge buildup. These balls are compatible with all standard pond filtration systems and will not interfere with mechanical pumps. Store any unused mud balls in a cool, dry place to maintain the integrity of the microbial components before use. Because the balls are approximately 6.5cm in diameter and hand-pressed, some minor crumbling during shipping is normal and will not affect the performance once placed in the water.
