The Dylon Fabric Dye Pod offers a convenient and effective solution for refreshing faded natural fabrics or completely transforming their color within your washing machine. It's designed for simple, mess-free application to achieve permanent color, though it's important to note that pure synthetic materials will not dye, and fabric blends will only achieve lighter shades.

The Dylon Fabric Dye Pod delivers reliable performance for anyone looking to refresh or recolor natural textiles. For best results, ensure your fabric is clean and damp before beginning the dyeing process. The dye is specifically formulated for cotton, linen, and viscose, providing a deep, even navy blue shade.
For example, a single pod can effectively dye a standard pair of adult jeans (approximately 600g) to a full, rich navy. If you're dyeing a larger item, such as a double bed sheet (up to 1.8kg), expect a lighter navy blue result, or consider using multiple pods for a darker shade. It is crucial to remember that the final color intensity will be influenced by the fabric's original color, weight, and composition.
Fabrics that are blends with synthetic materials (e.g., 50% cotton/50% polyester) will only absorb the dye on their natural fibers, leading to a lighter, less intense color. Pure synthetic fabrics will not absorb the dye at all, so check your fabric labels carefully. The convenient pod design makes the application straightforward: simply place the pod directly into the washing machine drum with the damp fabric. Following the dye cycle, a subsequent wash with detergent helps set the color and clean the fabric and machine.
Setup Instructions:
Ensure the fabric you wish to dye is clean and thoroughly damp. Do not overload your washing machine.
Place the damp fabric evenly into the drum of your washing machine.
Remove the outer sleeve from the Dylon dye pod.
Carefully peel off the entire lid from the pod.
Place the open DYLON colour pod directly on top of the fabric inside the drum.
Run a full washing machine cycle at 30°C or 40°C. Do not add any laundry detergent to this initial cycle.
Immediately after the first cycle completes, run another full washing machine cycle at 30°C or 40°C, this time adding your usual laundry detergent to clean the fabric and the machine.
For complete, detailed instructions, always refer to the leaflet included inside your dye pod packaging.
Compatibility:
Suitable Fabrics: Cotton, linen, viscose (including denim and canvas made from these materials).
Partial Dyeing: Fabric blends containing natural fibers and synthetics (e.g., cotton-polyester blends) will dye to lighter shades.
Not Suitable: Pure synthetic fabrics (e.g., 100% polyester, nylon, acrylic, acetate), wool, silk, or fabrics with special finishes.
Care After Dyeing:
For the first few washes after dyeing, always wash the newly dyed item separately from other laundry to prevent any potential color transfer.
Follow the specific care instructions for your fabric type to maintain color vibrancy.
To ensure your washing machine is clean and ready for subsequent laundry loads, run an empty wash cycle with detergent after dyeing, especially if you notice any residual color.
