Full details

Discover the joy of homegrown tomatoes with Tomato 'Alicante' seeds. This popular variety is renowned for producing an abundant early harvest of delicious, sweet, medium-sized fruits. Ideal for both greenhouse cultivation and sunny, sheltered outdoor spots, 'Alicante' is a reliable choice for gardeners seeking excellent flavour and a generous yield. How to Grow: - For greenhouse cultivation, sow seeds indoors from February to March. For outdoor growing, sow from March to April. - Sow seeds on the surface of a free-draining seed compost in pots or trays. Keep at a temperature of 15–20°C for germination, which typically takes 7–14 days. - Once seedlings have developed two true leaves, transplant them into 7.5cm pots. Maintain a minimum temperature of 15°C. - Before planting outdoors, gradually acclimatise the young plants to external conditions after the risk of frost has passed. - Plant seedlings 60cm apart in a location that receives full sun, in fertile, well-drained soil. - Support the main stem with canes and regularly remove side shoots (suckers) that develop in the leaf axils. - Begin feeding with a high-potash fertiliser once the first truss of fruit has formed. Water consistently, especially during dry periods. - To optimise the quality and size of the crop, pinch out the top of the main stem after approximately 6–7 trusses have set. - Harvest your ripe, sweet tomatoes from July through to September. This packet contains 25 Veg Saver Seeds, offering a fantastic opportunity to grow your own tasty tomatoes.
